WRL FAQ

Data

I don’t have data, do you?

Yes, and we have a lot of it.

WRL can provide you with a phone match of your datalist.

WRL can provide you with a phone update of your datalist.

WRL can provide you with a polling sample.

WRL can provide you with a cell phone only sample for non IVR survey research.

In fact, WRL can provide you with a call list matching just about any description you can imagine.

We provide this data for an additional charge.

Please make sure you ask your sales consultant about our data services.

I have a list of phone numbers, can I call my list?

Sure, we can call any list you provide as long as it meets DNC requirements and laws in your community.

We do recommend that if you list of phone numbers has not been updated recently  that you request WRL to update and append the list.

It is well worth the additional charge to insure that your calls are reaching the right people.

I have a list of people, but no phone numbers. What now?

No problem.

WRL can match your data list to the most current phone numbers available.

We can also flag cell phones and people on the DNC call.

What format should my data be in?

Your data should be in a CSV (comma delimited or tab delimited), XLS, or XLSX format.

The name can be in one of three formats:

  • One Full Name Field
  • First and Last Name Fields Separate
  • First, Middle and Last Name Fields Separate

The Address should be

  • One Address Field
  • Two Address Fields
  • Three Address Fields

Note: If the apartment number is formatted with the primary address line, enter only the one address line. If the apartment number is in a separate field enter the two or three address fields as needed.

For addresses parsed into more than 3 parts (e.g. street pre-directional, house number, street name, street post-directional, apartment number) you will need to process the data offline before sending.

Phone Field(s). The system can process files with any one of the following 3 formats:

  • No Phone Field
  • One – 10 Byte Field
  • Three Separate Fields

Note: – Do not include the parenthesis, brackets, or hyphens when entering the start positions.

– Area codes must be entered for proper verification of client phone numbers.

My data is a mess, can you help me?

Absolutely, as an additional service, we can update, combine, or reformat your data in order to conform your data standard database practices.

I am a Democrat or raging liberal, will you help me?

No, WRL will not.

Follow up: What if I paid you twice the going rate for a poll?

A: We are flattered that you would ask, but sorry, still No.

Nothing personal, as a company, WRL was founded to help Republican candidates and conservative causes. Helping them excites WRL. Helping Democrats? Not so much.

WRL is positive that you are a fine person, only horribly misguided. Therefore, WRL feels there are other polling firms better suited to serve your needs.

General

What is your capacity for calls in one evening?

With our scalable dialing infrastructure, WRL can literally place millions of calls during a calling period.

Are my results confidential?

Absolutely, 100% guaranteed.

I heard you guys only work for Republicans, is that true? If so, why?

Yes.

The owners of this company (Alex Patton & Stafford Jones) are both conservative Republicans, and they choose to use their talent & time to work with people they want to be successful.

This means WRL assists Republican candidates and conservative organizations.

IVR Polling

What is your polling methodology?

Details about WRL’s polling methodology can be on WRL’s methodology page.

What is the Vault? How can I join?

The Vault is a repository for polling information presented in a graphical form.  The Vault has been depreciated; however it is available for historical purposes.

Currently, instead of new polling data being released in the Vault, New Polling releases are released via the website in PDF format for downloading.

May I quote your polling data in my blog, journal, etc?

You are welcome to quote information from the War Room Logistics website.

We ask the following in return:

  • Credit War Room Logistics
  • Provide a hyperlink back to www.warroomlogistics.com

Can I make a suggestion to add a question or topic to a poll? How does that work?

Yes. E-mail your suggestion(s) to info@warroomlogistics.com

What is the process for commissioning a custom poll?

It consists of defining the survey objectives, determining who will be sampled, designing the survey, conducting the survey, analyzing the data, and finally writing up the survey results.

How long does it take to complete a custom poll?

WRL has designed, implemented, analyzed and returned data in a 24-hour period.

We find most delays are with the design & approval of the survey.

However, for most projects, unless you are very familiar with survey design and survey implementation, you should allow for a 1 week period for survey design & approval, 1-2 days for data collection, and 1-3 days for analysis of the data.

What is the cost for a custom poll?

As with most polling, WRL’s custom poll’s pricing varies depending on number of respondents needed and the length of the questionnaire.

However, most custom surveys cost approximately $2,500-$5,000. Please contact your WRL representative for a firm quote.

How many respondents do I need?

This depends on your tolerance for the margin of error and your population size.

Typically, a poll conducted in a local geographical region will be 400-500 respondents, and typically, a poll conducted in a state-wide or national geographical region will be 1,000 to 1,500 respondents. Normally, this will provide for a margin of error of +- 5% or less.

Who do I contact if I’m interested in a custom poll?

Call WRL at 866-718-4255 or e-mail sales@warroomlogistics.com.

You can also contact us via the web contact form.

How do your results compare to “Live Polling”?

Our results compare favorably, and in many circumstances, have the potential to exceed typical, expensive live caller polling.

What are the advantages of using IVR?

One advantage of using IVR is that it eliminates a questioner’s bias. When using live callers, the mood of the questioner, their tone of voice, or the questioner mispronouncing names can often have a derogatory effect on the person being polled and cause them to answer in ways that they might not, otherwise.

In addition, the person being polled will often fear being judged by the person asking the questions. When the issue being polled is a potentially sensitive issue, the person answering the questions has the potential to be less truthful and more politically correct when answering a live caller. Conversely, when responding to pre-recorded questions, a respondent will often be more truthful because they know that the computer can’t judge them or develop an opinion about them based on their answers.

Finally, an additional advantage is price. IVR polling democratizes polling and brings information to those campaigns, organizations, and companies that otherwise may not be able to afford data.

What are the disadvantages of using IVR?

The main disadvantage to IVR is a higher hang-up rate. However, this can be easily overcome because an automated polling system can contact more people, faster than live person calling.

Another disadvantage to IVR polling is that respondents are more likely to hang up before the poll is completed especially on longer surveys, which is not as likely with live person calling. Again, this can be easily overcome since IVR can reach far more people, far faster than traditional live person calling.

The second disadvantage is the increase in cord cutters or households with cell phones only. IVR technology is prohibited from knowingly calling cell phones. Cell phone calls must be initiated with a live caller. In the case were the budget allows, WRL will collect a sample from cell phones (usually around 20% of the total sample) using live callers. These results will then be combined with data collected using IVR for the final analysis.

Are my results confidential?

Absolutely, 100% guaranteed.

I heard you guys only work for Republicans, is that true? If so, why?

Polling Methodology

What is your polling methodology?

Details about WRL’s polling methodology can be on WRL’s methodology page.

Pricing

Ok, I love you guys, How much for Robocalls?

Robo-call pricing is dependent upon the volume of calls; however, a job will cost from as little as two and half cents per call for large volume calls.  Smaller volume calls increase in call per price.

OK, I love you guys, How much for an IVR poll?

Polling costs will vary depending on two main factors:  length of the survey and the number of respondents requested.

For a rule of thumb, you can estimate $5 – $9 per completed survey depending on the length and number of respondents requested.

Great, do you offer any discounts?

CONSULTANT DISCOUNT:  We offer discounts to fellow political consultants we have established relationships with, especially those astute enough to perform their own survey statistical analysis and wish to white label our data collection.

MEDIA DISCOUNT:   We offers discounts to media companies who contract with us for ongoing, annual polling in their communities.

Robocalls

Is there a do not call list?

Yes. All information about the National Do Not Call list can be found here: https://www.donotcall.gov

By providing WRL with a data list, you certify that you are abiding by all rules and regulations of the National DNC Registry.

If you are unsure about the DNC or if it applies to your project, please have your WRL representative cross reference your list with the National DNC Registry. WRL will flag phones that are on the list, and will only make calls for purposes permitted by law.

Don’t people ignore robo calls?

Sure some voters do ignore them; however, this is exactly like any communication channel.

However, robocalls can deliver a targeted message quickly and inexpensively.

We find a diverse mix of communication channels is the best way to break through the clutter.

What is the process to complete automated calls?

Automated calls are a two step process.

Step 1 – Data. Data can be provided by you in a .csv, .txt., excel, .dbf, or other common database forms. This can be done via ftp or email depending on the size of the file. WRL then checks for duplicates, removes cell phones, and cross references with the National Do Not Call list, if needed. For a small additional fee, WRL can update or append phone numbers to your list to ensure the highest completion rate possible. Don’t have data? We can purchase a list for you through one of our many relationships.

Step 2 – Message. You have several options. You can call our WRL recording line with any land line phone and record your message. You have the option of replaying it and recording as many times as you like until you are comfortable with the message. Don’t like your voice? No problem, for a small additional charge, we have professional voice talents on retainer.

If I don’t like my voice for robocalls, do you have other options?

Yes. For an additional charge, we offer professional voice talents. You can choose from male or female voices, voices with or without accents, cartoon voices….really anything you can think of. We can even arrange for languages other than English. Ask away, we have not been stumped…..yet.

How is the sound quality of the calls?

Fantastic. You are asked to approve any sound file before calls are placed. We take great care to check all levels and maximize the quality of sound files by putting each sound file through different filters to make it as clear as possible.

How do I know if the calls were made and how many were successful?

You will receive a call completion report when the campaign is concluded. This report will show you how many calls were completed, how many messages were delivered to answering machines versus live people, as well as additional information.
